Be Part of Something Meaningful

Our volunteer programs provide opportunities for youth and seniors to engage in hands-on community service, develop skills, and make a positive impact across the Halifax Regional Municipality. Whether you’re looking to learn, give back, or connect with others, there’s a place for you here.

Why Volunteer?

At It Takes a Village Community Outreach and Advocacy, we believe that true community support starts with people showing up for one another. Through meaningful service, mentorship, and teamwork, our volunteers:

  • Contribute to community-led initiatives that address local needs

  • Build cross-generational understanding and support

  • Gain confidence, experience, and personal growth

  • Help strengthen the fabric of our community through shared effort and care

What You’ll Do

Our volunteer roles include:

  • Community Service: Participate in hands-on projects that help address urgent needs.

  • Mentorship & Training: Receive guidance from veteran volunteers and skill-building support.

  • Collaboration: Work alongside others to foster connection, belonging, and purpose.

  • Workshops & Development: Attend volunteer workshops designed to grow personal and professional confidence.

Youth Volunteer Program

The Youth Volunteer Program not only benefits the communities it serves but also offers valuable learning experiences and personal growth opportunities for young participants. These programs help instil a sense of empathy, responsibility, safe space, and a positive impact on the community.

They gain new insights, perspectives, and knowledge while contributing to causes that focus on the well-being of others and inspiring future generations to engage in volunteerism. They support our grassroots initiative by participating in community development, advocacy, and civic engagement and are the change agents of our society.

They are the heart and soul of ITAVCOA initiatives. Their dedication, passion, and hard work are essential to creating positive change and building a stronger community spirit.
