Choosing the Right Volunteers

ree

Do you feel strongly about the issue that we support? Make sure they are dedicating and they align with our cause. Do they feel strongly about who we support. Volunteer with choose you to volunteer if they like your mandate and what you are delivering. Do they find what you offer fulfilling.

Choosing the right volunteers means choosing people with heart. We look for those who are willing to serve, uplift, and stand beside our community with compassion and purpose. Those who know what community really means. They are community oriented and focus. They believe in forging community, and it brings everyone together.

In some instances, you will end up with part-time, seasonal, floaters, or full-time. This makes a huge difference.

It is amazing how some have good intentions but never show up. What are your thoughts on that?

A part-time volunteer is someone who offers their time and skills to an organization on a limited or flexible schedule.

A seasonal volunteer is someone who contributes their time during specific times of the year or for particular events or campaigns. Their involvement is temporary and tied to seasonal needs, special events, or short-term projects.

A full-time volunteer is someone who dedicates a significant portion of their time—often equivalent to a full-time work schedule—to support an organization’s programs and operations. They may have ongoing responsibilities, take on leadership roles, or provide consistent hands-on support across multiple projects.

A floater volunteer is someone who does not have a fixed role or schedule but is available to assist wherever needed. They provide flexible support across multiple programs, events, or tasks, filling gaps as they arise.

A no-show volunteer is someone who commits to volunteering but repeatedly fails to attend scheduled shifts or fulfill their responsibilities. This can impact program delivery and place additional strain on other volunteers and staff.

What type of volunteer would you be?
